I am messing with Generative (AI generated) Metal now...

After reading about AI generated metal on youtube, I decided to find out if Generative music sites can do good metal... At the time they couldn't... This was a year ago.

Fastforward to last month, I decided to check this out again and search for a generative music site that does good metal... It took a long time, but I found one... This site, AIVA, is really cool on the surface... You can 'train' it's AI on non copyrighted metal samples to make it do a certain sound.... Then you can ask it to replicate that sound with unique songs... It will adjust and change things in real time, which is nice... It evolves like any person and makes changes to the sound.

Fastforward to last week... I had made 2 major solo projects with the AI powered music generator. One was called Ai metal and was simply a showoff of what it could do. No songs had titles and it was simply set up to name them "track 1", "track 2", etc.  That solo artist was a lot more neoclassical than the next one, called "generative chaos"...

Generative chaos was formed later on, earlier this month to do original songs with AI. The sound was trained on my own music this time and sounded totally different than AI metal.  It sounded more unique, less classical oriented and more Middle Eastern, sound wise.  It also did a lot more syncopated riffs and  was actually heavier.  By the time I set up a third account at AIVA though to show off my music, I changed the setup, trained it on stuff that wasn't mine and did some songs that were more like AI metal and then quit.

I recently set up an AIVA account to make music for me to listen to only. This was trained on a mix of my own music and music the Ai made based on other bands.  The sound sounded different, more technical, more classical oriented and weirder. The prog metal was doing weird time signatures, had some strange blues rock elements, and was weirder. Melodeth was more death/doom and black metal was weird as hell but dark sounding, at least. I use that to make music for me to listen to at night while relaxing now...

What is really bad is just how finnicky this Ai is though. You try to get it to emulate a song and it frankly doesn't always do it right. I had a fucking Pain in the Ass of a time trying to get it to emulate black metal multiple times. Song C worked the first time after Song A and Song B failed to do something that didn't mix in terrible mainstream music like pop drumming, handclaps, rockabilly (!) or rap drumming. The second time Song C did what Song A and B did the last time and it was worse... Song B failed again but this Time Song A did it better... WTF... The alogerithm is totally fucked up and needs to be totally revamped if the music sounds sinister or dark... But besides this this AI actually was interesting... It evolved over time, did unexpected things like add elements of Classical and Middle Eastern Music into an influence (a style of music it can do based on a sampled song), when the influence didn't even have those elements in them originally...

I may have found the ultimate music hosting site...

I was unsatisfied with Indiesound so I went looking for a new music site to host my music.  I tried a site called openwhyd but that was a pile of crap. Then I tried this site whyp.it and that actually turned out to be great. Then I tried posting music videos to tiktok but that is filled with annoying video upload limits so I don't like it much. But whyp.it is insane.

On Whyp.it I have 5 caustic euphony songs, 5 retro evisceration songs, and a shit ton of unleashing vengeance songs up there... On this site these songs keep on getting played on their own, something this site has in common with indiesound only. Other sites have been a lot worse in this reguard (forget about getting this to happen on audiomack, they will ignore your music there if you write 1 bad song, same thing is true with audius), but Whyp.it is killing it.

Now the playcounts could be a lot better, but the sheer amount of tracks getting plays is insane there...  About 90% of my songs have been played on whyp.it.  And this is after only 1 day. ONE FUCKING DAY! It took MONTHS to be noticed on audius and audiomack.  And people listen on twitter, which is great.

I want to thank the people who made whyp.it. I love this site... It blows soundcloud, audius AND audiomack to smithereens! It is better than indiesound due to one reason as well... NO music upload limits minus a minor 8 minute song or higher not allowed thing.  Not a lot of music upload sites have unlimited tracks for a free account. Soundcloud doesn't have that. Tiktok has limits, they all have limits. Indiesound for instance, has an insane 5 songs only per account limit which is really bad for a prolific artist like unleashing vengeance, that wrote tons of cds per year for 12+ years... And the sites that allow you to post unlimited tracks, most of them are crap that have bad fanbase issues where the fans ignore your music like on audius and audiomack. Whyp.it is the ONLY phenominal site for my music now.. I give it a 9.7/10!  Indiesound by comparison is only an 8/10, soundcloud is only a 6/10 and audiomack and audius are like 5 or 6 out of 10.

My music is killing it in the indie scene now...

Update for you people on my music... It is doing really well online thanks to indiesound mostly. On Indiesound I am regularly getting songs with 1000+ plays, sometimes up to 5000 or so. I am also getting some really EXTREME shit posted low in the charts there for a few days which is weird, but great. Extreme stuff like Black Metal and Blackened Thrash metal is killing it.

Here are songs that have done great...

On soundcloud and audius I am not doing as well but soundcloud seems to be getting a bit better. I posted some older unleashing vengeance and did an autoplaying unleashing vengeance playlist for my blogs there, so check that out...

This is good news people...
